I give people of color and women a running start.

I offer women and people of color the space to know that they are sufficient in an industry that tells them otherwise. By advising them on building a strong story, my goal is for independent sponsors to fundraise with ease.

Like you, I entered the financial services industry because I wanted to do well for myself while also making an impact on society. I fundamentally believe that I changed the world simply by being in the room.

But I grew frustrated that when the few who looked like me were invited into the room, they were more rigorously questioned. On top of that, when my estranged father passed away and I turned 30 just two weeks later, my managers didn’t give me the support I needed.

So, I left my job, and spent three years writing a memoir about my family. That intense exercise in introspection — as well as a walk in the woods in Washington State — gave me the courage and confidence to say that my personal mission is to bring ease and freedom to fund managers who are women or people of color.

Now, I am a trusted advisor to these talented folks, guiding them through the process of starting a firm that will long outlast them, creating a legacy for generations.

My expertise has been built by:

  • BA in English and MBA in Finance from Georgetown University

  • Small Business Investment Company (SBIC) Intern at the U.S. Small Business Administration

  • Investment Associate at Abbott Capital Management, a private equity fund-of-funds

  • A decade mentoring women through the Forté Foundation’s MBALaunch program

  • Writer of numerous personal essays and short stories published online and in print

  • Editor at three award-winning literary magazines

You are sufficient. You have everything you need. Let’s get you ready to be in the room.
