How do I say “thank you” quite enough?

It wouldn’t be the week before Thanksgiving if I didn’t talk about gratitude! This time last year, I wrote in my newsletter about thanking your fears for their service; usually, fear presents itself when it’s trying to protect you from the unknown, but that’s not always helpful because, well, the vast majority of life is the unknown.

I went into 2022 thanking the fears that were trying to keep me safe from expanding my business and team, focusing on the audience I know I support best, and letting go of the need for legitimacy and external validation. I had no idea this year would bring some serious hard times, including major health challenges for my family, and all I can say is – thank God I let go of those fears because this year could have been waaaaaay worse if I’d had them.

So, this Thanksgiving, I’m thanking my fears again, but I’m even more thankful for my strength, my faith, my team, my friends, my family, and my community, including and especially my Emerging Manager RoundTable community.

I want to say special thank yous to my assistant, Helen Fitzhugh, and my former communications manager, Skye Kowaleski, who saw me through the roughest part of my year and supported me infinitely better than I ever could have asked or imagined. I could not have done all the things I did this year without them, and shouting them out publicly is still wildly insufficient to account for what they mean to me.

Thank you to everyone who has attended or watched recaps of the Emerging Manager RoundTable! Massive, massive thanks to my guests over the past two years, especially Brendan Anderson and Donnie Bedney, whose December 2021 recap is still my most-watched YouTube video (despite the fact that I look awful, lol).

Thank you for reading this blog and for responding every time I said, “I want to hear from you.”

Thank you for believing in me.

On that sappy note, I’m signing off to begin a three-month sabbatical. Yes, I’ll be hibernating for the winter, recovering from a slog of a year, but more so preparing for 2023 to be a year of jubilee. I look forward to seeing you all in the spring, refreshed and ready to serve my clients and community with new vigor.
